Our Story Begins…
A kindly man named Arnold loved dogs. Every day he went out and fed dogs that he saw on the street. His heart ached for these poor dogs with no home, so he began to care for the friendliest ones so that someday they would find proper homes and loving people to adopt them.
One day, two people stopped by looking for a pet. After much thought, they decided on a puppy named Ralph, a cute dog with soft brown and white fur and a black nose. Arnold was sad to see Ralph go, but was happy to know he would be well looked after. The pup bonded with his new family members and learned more than enough tricks within weeks. The family took him on outside activities such as hiking and swimming in the nearby lake. It was clear that his days of sadness were far behind them.
Another time a lady came to Arnold looking for a friend for her son. They decided to get a sweet tempered, white dog named Disco, who quickly became a loyal sidekick. Every day when the son went to school, Disco would see him off and wait patiently at the door. When he returned, he would wag his tail with excitement, ready for an afternoon full of games in the yard. The two grew up together and had many years of play and happiness.
One street dog, a black and white mutt, became particularly friendly with Arnold. After months of being looked after and cared for by Arnold’s generous hand, she began to trust him completely, and he named her Sweetie. One day Arnold decided it was time to see if anyone wanted to adopt her. After meeting with several people, he met a family he knew would be perfect owners for her. Seeing how excited this family was to finally have their first dog made his eyes tear up with happiness. Sweetie left to join a warm home full of love.
There was another dog with golden fur that Arnold found on the street who was shy at first but soon came to trust Arnold. He named her Betty. One day as he bent down to give her some food, a man stopped and asked about her. It was clear that this man was interested in keeping her. At first Arnold was concerned, because she was not used to people and preferred living outdoors. The man said he had a large farm in the country and Betty could live there with his other animals. With that, Arnold let the man take her to live out her life running happily among his fields and pastures.
Months later, Arnold stumbled across a small older dog with big floppy ears. He had been living on the street for weeks, but he warmed up to Arnold right away. Arnold brought him home and nursed him back to health. One night, an elderly couple showed up at Arnold’s door looking for companionship now that their children were grown. The couple’s eyes lit up when they saw the little fellow wagging his tail from the window sill and knew that this was their perfect match. After a few tearful goodbyes from Arnold, the couple welcomed their new four legged family member into their loving arms and went off on their forever adventure together.
After caring for so many dogs, Arnold was content and filled with happiness, but saying goodbye was still hard sometimes. During a particularly cold month, Arnold found a litter of puppies that were very sick. Despite all his efforts, sadly only one tiny white dog survived. After nursing him back to health, Arnold decided to name him Milo and keep him for himself. Now Milo goes with Arnold every day to care for and feed other street dogs with his forever companion, Arnold.
