Our Story Begins…
In the small town lived a young girl named Emma. She hated eating any food that looked or smelled funny. All she liked to eat was bread.
Bread for breakfast. Bread for lunch. Bread for dinner. Bread for snacks.
One day, Emma’s mother took her to the market. There were many new people, sights, sounds and smells. And there was food. So much food. But Emma did not want any of it.
Mother asked, “Will you try some cheese?”
“No!” said Emma. “I only eat bread!”
“Will you try some meat?”
“No! I only eat bread!”
“Will you try some cake?”
“No! I only eat bread!”
“Will you try some fruit?”
“No! I only eat bread!”
Without a word, Mother took a slice of fruit and popped it in Emma’s mouth.
“Eewww!” she said, with a stamp and a shout.
Slowly Emma began to chew. The fruit was juicy and sweet. She swallowed and smiled.
“That was really good. Can I have some more?”
From that day forth, Emma loved to go to the market and try new food.
